Working Holiday Visa New Zealand

Do you want to vacation, take English courses in New Zealand, and work without hourly limitations? Then apply for the Working Holiday visa and study for 6 months! The only drawback is that obtaining this visa isn’t so straightforward. Here’s why:

  • The visa lasts for 12 months and is renewable.
  • The number of visas granted is limited and varies by country.
  • This visa is available for only 45 countries.
  • The processing time for the Working Holiday Visa varies by country and costs 420 NZD*.

These are some general requirements to obtain this visa:

  • Passport with a validity of 15 months when the visa is approved.
  • Certificate of good health.
  • Age between 18 and 35 years.
  • Criminal record check.
  • 4200 NZD* for the initial expenses of your trip to New Zealand.
  • Valid international medical insurance for the entire stay.

Visitor Visa

With the Visitor Visa for New Zealand you can study for up to 3 months, but working in New Zealand is prohibited as it is considered illegal. To process the permit, you must pay 211 NZD* (excluding taxes) and submit your application online.

Some of the requirements include:

  • Having 1000 NZD* for each month you plan to stay in the country. If your accommodation is already paid for, an additional 400 NZD* is required to cover the cost of living in New Zealand.
  • Providing evidence that you have the funds to support your trip: credit card statements or bank statements.

Electronic Travel Authorization New Zealand

Since 2016, a visitor visa is not required for some nationalities. Citizens of these countries are only asked to have an Electronic Travel Authorization (NZeTA). This document has the same properties and scope as a visitor visa but with a much simpler process.

The NZeTA is requested online through the New Zealand immigration portal or the official app. It costs 58 NZD* when paid on the website or 52 NZD* when paid through the New Zealand immigration mobile app.

Several countries are exempt from visas (Visa Waiver Countries). If you have a passport from these countries, you don’t need to worry about the tourist visa. Additionally, if you need to apply for a longer-term visa, such as a study visa, it will be easier for you.

*Remember that visa costs can vary at any time.
